Amongst the many yoga schools for a teacher training course in Rishikesh, one stands out in particular: Lily Yoga Rishikesh. It’s special not only because of its great team, but also for its amazing location. Lily Yoga Rishikesh is located in central Tapovan (Laxman Jhula district of Rishikesh), yet is tucked away from the main road. Here the school has their own resort with hotel, spa, restaurant, yoga halls, a luscious peaceful garden and Ganga valley views.
.
Lily Yoga Rishikesh is registered with Yoga Alliance USA, and it encourages traditional values and practices, so students can learn an authentic and holistic yoga lifestyle, which goes far beyond postures and anatomy. Their Yoga Teacher Trainings (RYT) contribute to refine the student’s awareness and connect to truth within him/herself. Therewith guiding them to become integrated and confident yoga instructors.
We at Sohan Tours & Travel are providing the school’s transportation from / to the airport and organise additional activities such as adventures sports, pilgrimages and excursions to sacred power spots and temples.
To contribute to their guests‘ wellbeing and to encourage a holistic, healthy lifestyle, Lily Yoga Rishikesh also offers Ayurvedic Detox & Rejuvenation Retreats which purify, balance and heal your body, harmonise your mind and nourish your soul. You can book an Ayurveda Retreat any time of the year. Minimum stay: 7 days. Ideally you stay 2 weeks. And for a deeper shift 3 weeks.

The Char Dham Yatra began yesterday with the reopening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines. While Kedarnath and Badrinath will be reopened on 9 and 10 May.
The first group left yesterday morning at 4am, from Tapovan. Here the cars before departure (in front of Shri Balak Nath Mandir):

And here a bigger group that has left for the Yatra – also with blessing from punditji.
(Under the scorching sun, guests wait inside the bus.)
Monday, as per tradition, the ceremonial procession of lord Kedarnath started from Ukhimath (see video below). Yesterday, the procession halted at Gaurikund and reached Kedarnath today. Kedarnath shrine will be reopened to the devotees at 5:35 AM on May 9.

This is a beautiful example of a small temple that is fully integrated in people’s life in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Following snapshots and a video of local women celebrating – a daylong carefree, joyful get together, including praying / chanting / dancing/ food and flower offerings to Devi. Celebrating the inner and outer devi.
This temple is a smaller sister of the major Surkanda Devi Mandir in Dhanaulti.
Respect for and appreciation of traditions and culture,
respect for and appreciation of women of all generations,
respect for and appreciation of the goddess,
respect for and appreciation of the divine powers larger than us humans.
All this still does exist in India.

It’s been a while… and so much has happened since our last post. For example, Rishikesh went through a major overhaul of its infrastructure:
- New roads and new road surfaces between the market and Tapovan, and also all the way to Dehradun;
- Installation of road security reflectors and borders, especially in the area through the forest towards Jolly Grant airport and Dehradun;
- Building of pedestrians, fences and an entire new road structure with parking spaces at Rishikesh bus stand;
- Planting of hundreds of trees;
- Painting public spaces, walls, etc;
- New electricity wiring and cable connections;
- New road lamps;

Earlier this year the entire promenade along Ganga between Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula got newly paved. There are also now generous seating areas with beautiful pavilions and benches.
So whether you plan your first visit to Rishikesh, or come repeatedly, there are lots of improvements to discover, and enjoy.
