CHOPTA TOUR (4 days)

Chopta is located in the Rudraprayag district of the state Uttarakhand and is famous for its breathtaking views of the snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas and scenic landscapes (rich grassland and fairytale-like forests, known for their vast variety of flora and fauna). Located at an altitude of about 2700 m above sea level, Chopta enjoys perfect weather almost throughout the year. Though comparatively unexplored, the scenic village has been gradually gaining importance as a popular tourist destination. For nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts this place is a perfect destination for trekking and camping.

Optional excursions around Chopta:
Tungnath Shiva Temple: Located at height of 3680 m above sea level, Tungnath is the highest temple in the world. Chopta is the best starting point for a trek up the mountain to this old temple (distance: 3 km); Gopeshwar: A picturesque place in the district headquarters of Chamoli, situated at an elevation of 1300 m above sea level. It is well known for its fresh, serene atmosphere and the temple of Lord Shiva, Gopinath Mandir; Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary: On the road Chopta-Gopeshwar, this area is famous for breeding musk deers. The sanctuary covers an area of 5 sqkm and is an ideal place to enjoy rare Himalayan wildlife, forests and aromatic flowers. Deoria Tal Lake, located in the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary at an elevation of 2438 m, is famous for its crystal clear water and beautiful panoramic views.

KUNJAPURI – RISHIKESH (half day trip)
Kunjapuri Temple at sunrise & Trekking excursion

Located at an altitude of 1650 m and hidden in the mountains near Rishikesh (ca. 15 km away), Kunjapuri temple offers panoramic view across the Himalaya snow peaks – one can see almost all the peaks of Garhwal Himalayas e.g. Bandarpoonch (6316m), Swarga Rohini (6252m), Chaukhamba (7138m). Just perfect for sunrise, moonrise and sunset.

Being a prime religious center – this temple is dedicated to one of the thirteen most important goddesses of the Shivalik range – thousands of visitors come throughout the year, especially during ‘Navratra’ (April and October). Grand celebrations are held during the Dussehra festival. Kunjapuri is a beautiful site with the mandir built in white and bright, vivid colors. 

After viewing the sunrise from the temple, we start an easy trekking tour back to Rishikesh, amidst beautiful nature (ca. 9 km): plants, flowers, mountain streams, waterfalls, terraced fields, picturesque villages etc. By midday we reach Rishikesh.
