Now is an excellent time for taking walks along Ganga. The temperatures throughout the day are pleasant and the waters are pristine.
If you want to take a dip in our holy river early morning, just wait until the sun comes out from behind the hills before you dive in.
For recommendations on where to go for walks and how to combine it with a temple visit, rafting tour or trekking trip, just contact us.

A few days ago, we decided spontaneously to attend the closure ceremony of the Badrinath temple and drove with a group of friends and business partners up the Himalayan serpetines.
Badrinath is a holy town at 3300m, close to the Tibet/China border, and it is the most important of the four sites of India’s Char Dham pilgrimage. Because of the extreme weather conditions in the region, the temple is only open for six months a year (between April and November).
On the day of closure, Akhanda Jyothi (eternal light) is lit – a lamp filled with ghee to last for six months.
The photos show Badrinath temple and the surroundings on the closing day, already covered by snow.
Attending the opening ceremony of Badrinath temple (which we did this year) AS WELL AS the closing of the temple on the last day of the season, is seen as highly auspicious.
Enjoy the snapshots and Be blessed!
Sohan Tours & Travel are wishing you and your families a Very Happy Diwali!

The Char Dham Yatra season 2017 has begun! And a couple of days ago we went to the official opening of Badrinath temple, high up in the Himalayas. For those who could not make it there, below some snapshots of the breathtaking and beautifully decorated site (flower garlands alert!).
.
On the opening day, 6. May, also President Pranab Mukherjee was present during the gate opening of shrine. CM Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and State Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj accompanied Mukherjee during his visit (in the picture below with the shrine’s chief priest).
For the first time in many years, this 1st day celebration in Badrinath was visited by more than tenthousand people, Indians as well as foreigners. Pedestrians around the shrine were so crowded that each visitor had to queue 2-3 hours before entering the temple. And just check the car line on the road leading to Badrinath on the picture below!
The re-awakened popularity of the four sacred pilgrimage sites is probably linked to a.) the properly rebuilt road network (after the Uttarakhand disaster 2013) and b) Prime Minister Narendra Modi recent visit of Kedarnath. On Wednesday he paid obeisance at Kedarnath as the portals of the shrine were reopened after remaining closed for six months during the winter season.
Be blessed!
